I’m getting to the stage where my running total for moth species this season are seriously beginning to outpace my ability to keep up with them here! This is a good thing, although it does make it harder to choose what to post. Just tonight, for instance, four new-for-seasons already in the fridge, waiting to be photographed in the morning.
Pinions are an abundant group in the early spring; so far this season I’ve tallied ten species of Lithophane (nine of fourteen that we’ll be including in our guide, plus one that we won’t). This species is probably my favourite pinion.
Mid- to late fall, and again through spring.
